Does your Yakima yard need some polish?

Hardscaping Services for Yakima, WA Yards

Retaining walls, paver walks and patios, stonework and fire pits: the permanent structure your plants sit in, designed and built by the same crew that grows them.

Chapter 01

What hardscaping is, and where a yard needs it

Hardscaping is brick, concrete, stonework, and other permanent or durable structures that are seen within landscaping. Our team in Yakima includes artisans who are skilled in many trades and who do well at remodeling and designing, so the outdoor living space ends up well balanced instead of pieced together.

Most yards that call us have one of a few problems. A slope sheds soil every time it rains or the sprinklers run. The path from the driveway to the door is a worn track through the lawn. The patio is a bare concrete pad that nobody sits on. None of those get better by adding more plants. They need something built.

What the crew builds, from retaining walls to a fire pit

We construct retaining walls to define your landscape and hold a slope where you want it. We use pavers to define sidewalks and walking paths, and to lay patios that stay level. We also build you a place to entertain around a fire pit, with seat walls or boulders around it to suit the yard.

Every project starts with a landscape consultation. Bryan, our owner and a landscape architect, works with you from the first stages of designing the space through to the finished build. The Scott Project is a good example of how far that can go: block retaining walls, a rock waterfall, a pond and lighting on one slope.

Chapter 03

We always keep aesthetic in mind

A wall that holds is the minimum. We also want it to look right next to your house and your plants, and we work to give you the best quality for the smallest payout. Brick, block, flagstone and basalt boulders all show up in our jobs, and the choice should fit your house.

Because Roots is a nursery first, the planting is part of the plan from the start. The tree, the shrubs and the grasses that go in beside the stone come off our own benches on Tieton Drive.

Transform Your Yard to Match Your Style

Let Roots Nursery & Landscape create a one-of-a-kind outdoor space for your family and friends to enjoy. Hardscaping goes well beyond adding stone walls. These are some of our own jobs, with the project names we use for them. Brick inlay, paver fields, block walls and basalt stairs all show up below.
